My Gong Sound Bath Meditations are deeply restorative experiences grounded in a growing body of scientific research showing that sound-based interventions can support relaxation and wellbeing. For example, a recent scoping review of published studies found that sound interventions (including music, natural sounds, and other auditory stimuli) are associated with measurable reductions in stress markers such as heart rate variability, blood pressure, cortisol, and self-reported anxiety, and can modulate neural activity related to emotional regulation — offering a non-invasive way to reduce the body’s stress response. (PubMed)

Specific sound meditation research also shows that participants report significant decreases in tension, anger, fatigue, depressed mood, and anxiety after sessions involving vibrational instruments like Tibetan singing bowls — instruments that share acoustic and meditative principles with gong sound baths. (PubMed)

As we move into the New Year, these sound meditations offer a valuable opportunity to reset your energy, ease stress accumulated over the festive period, and invite greater clarity and calm. Whether you are returning to the gongs or experiencing a sound bath for the first time, you are warmly invited to join me in 2026 to restore balance, reconnect, and begin the year feeling grounded, relaxed, and renewed.

  • scientific research is ongoing. Evidence for specific mechanisms (e.g., brainwave changes or endocrine markers) is emerging, and effects can vary between individuals. (PubMed)

  • Many studies on sound meditation use instruments such as singing bowls — while gongs produce different acoustic profiles, the underlying relaxation responses to sustained sound environments appear consistent.
